lim (x → 0) 1/x = ∞
Between zero and infinity, there is everything.
And my heart can’t seem to find peace with loving anything less.
life = consciousness x (space + time)
If life is the unfolding of consciousness across space and time, then I want to use my consciousness to make space for what is timeless. I want to gather the moments that make up my life and divide them by something so unquantifiable that it approaches infinity. After all, the closest the finite can reach the infinite is to be as intimate as possible with zero.
the good life = high quality of consciousness x (doing + being)
If life is the unfolding of consciousness across space and time, then the quality of my life (measured by Goodness) is determined by:
the quality of my consciousness as expressed in my being in space (measured by Beauty; experienced as poetic)
the quality of my consciousness as expressed in my doing in time (measured by Truthfulness; experienced as purposeful)
The Good Life is about pursuing what is True and Beautiful until they become inseparable: the harmony of purpose and poetry.
Left and right brain processes. Interior and exterior dimensions of reality. The good life includes a healthy balance between service-oriented action in community and conscious connection to being. Engaging both the horizontal and vertical dimensions of experience.
Values and virtues that guide me:
Intentionality: There is no escape from meaning. So how do I live in a way that makes life beautiful every day and, in hindsight, at the end of my days? This requires intentionality, anti-fragility, and adjustments through examination.
Authenticity: There is no living beautifully without an original expression of timeless truths. So how do I live in a way that reflects the uniqueness of my being? This requires courage.
Devotion: There is no avoiding worship, as David Foster Wallace said. So how do I devote my time to what is timeless? This requires love to the point of self-annihilation.
lim (x → 0) 1/x = ∞
I want to gather the moments that make up my life and devote them to something so unquantifiable that my life approaches infinity. After all, the closest the finite can reach the infinite is to be as intimate as possible with zero.
Love this!!!
I love this.
